The Weeks of March 10th - March 24th

As I am trapped in my yard yet again, with both snow plows completely broken there is very little I can do right now so it seemed like a perfect time to update the site with all the changes that have been occurring.

In the last two weeks we've managed to get out six more character from the Deus ex Historica series. They are Jumping Jack and Jill, Lariat, Radar Man, Midnight and Mist, Troubleshooter, and Mother Bear I. We are working our way through the whole of the book. I think right now we are on about page 65-70 of this beast so we are not even 1/3 of the way through this massive release. (Subscription)

If all goes well we should have another two characters in this series up on Sunday, and four more next week. In April, we will be leaving the Golden Age of Comics and moving into the Silver Age.

Paths of Power II: Paths of Blood
Now that we have a rhythm for Deus ex Historica, I'm working on trying to move more and more of the Paths of Power II: Paths of Blood content through development. The last time I had updated this we have just released Player's Options: The Corsair by Sean O'Connor.  We are working to finish up the race portion of this book first, and Ryan Costello Jr's contribution in the form of Player's Options: Humans has just been released at all our vendors. Ryan is working on Half-Elves, Josh is working on the Half-Orcs, and Robert has just turned in the Gnomes issue.

Heroes of the Fenian Triarchy
It look like I screwed up the production files. I need to fix the layout a bit, re-upload them, and order more preview copies. This will likely now not be out until April or even later. I'm working with Studio 2 Publishing to put this one into distribution as well. This will be the first Purple Duck Games product that you will be able to pick up in your FLGS.

Celurian's Magical Miscellany
A while back I was looking to put together a magic item book for Purple Duck Games. As many of my writers were currently on assignment, I asked Carlos "Celurian" Torreblanca if he would be interested in writing an illustrating a magic item book for us. The end result is Celurian's Magical Miscellany which was released late last week or early this week.

Monstrous Bloodlines for Sorcerers
Apparently, people where looking for new sorcerer bloodlines. The first two issues of these series Monstrous Bloodlines for Sorcerers and the aptly named Monstrous Bloodlines for Sorcerers II have both been wildly successful (read as they have broken even). So, Perry has now released the third and final volume in the series called Monstrous Bloodlines for Sorcerers III. According to Perry this last, last issue so I've also dropped it in a bundle to allow everyone who has missed out so far to pick up the whole series quickly.


That's about it for right now. More Paths of Power and Deus ex Historica content coming in the near future and hopeful a Legendary Class featuring the above art from Matt Morrow and written by David Nicholas Ross.

Help Me Fly by Funtomic is a casual puzzle game whose difficulty level pleasantly surprised me. The primary goal of the game is to rearrange the position of the red pieces, forming a continuous path from the battery to the plane. The secondary goal is to also connect the path to the stars (the number of stars changes from puzzle to puzzle). When you solve a puzzle, you get a nice animation of the plane flying away in circles. Normally the pieces can only be dragged around; the pieces with an arrow on them can also be rotated. Finding a route to the plane is easy enough, but also connecting all the stars required me several attempts in many cases. The solutions are elusive, possibly also for psychological reasons. For example in the puzzle pictured above, laying down a path to either the star or the plane is trivial, but to connect both of them you always seem to be one cell short, until you figure out that you are approaching the puzzle from the wrong direction. SoulJar Meeting 9/20/13

Just got off the phone with the SoulJar Team (Team SoulJar?!) for our weekly conference call. Previously, we'd only done these things bi-weekly, mostly because we don't really like talking to each other. But as things have begun to progress, we've had to move them to weekly. We discussed a lot of things. 1) We finalized our GenCon '14 plans. We already have rooms, and we're working to secure booth space. We decided on a plan of action and allocated a budget for a booth. I still have one last meeting before I can say categorically that we're going in an official capacity (as opposed to just wandering around). But we're one step closer to attending the con. I hope Indianapolis lays in a sufficient supply of gin. 2) We're working on a plan for the re-release of the Cairn Bicycle-brand Playing Card Kickstarter. A Peek Behind the Curtain

I have two consecutive days off from the "day job," which is pretty rare. So, in honor of the event, I'm going to start the day with a blog. I lead an exciting life, no? Yesterday was also the 25th anniversary of the release of "A Little Respect," so I may be rocking out to Erasure today. It's hard not to be happy when you're listening to Erasure.... I can see by a quick scan of the blog that I've promised to write a bit about SoulJar Games as a group, an endeavor, and (shall I say it?) a movement . Okay. That was a little pretentious. SoulJar Games grew organically out of our work processes for the past year. I "met" Alyssa Faden while working as the line editor for Nystul's Infinite Dungeon (yes, that book is coming out via D3 Adventures).
