The Purple Mountain Subscription

Image
The Purple Mountain Subscription The Purple Mountain series is designed to be a classic mega-dungeon. You know the kind... It doesn't have a grand plot or even a consistent theme level to level. Instead, it has pathways to the subterranean realms, prisons for demons, ancient ruins, lost civilizations, legendary weapons, mysterious magic, mines, slave pits, elemental nodes, water-filled passages, mazes, trick doors, traps, haunted levels, classic monsters (ropers, trapper, mimics, otyughs [especially otyughs], owlbears), dragons, monsters too big to have ever fit down those hallways, and artifacts! A classic mega-dungeon with everything wrong and right about it! What you get for this subscription: - Access to all 20 PDF issues of Purple Mountain for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game as they come out. - Free copies of four other PDF products in our current or future catalog. - If , I decide to port this product to another game system you will receive those versions of the adventure

Last 5 kits are in the store

I just dropped the last five kits in the web-store. For all of you that purchased a kit or two, THANK YOU! The postman will likely be peeved with me, as he has a rather large pick up tomorrow :) All the kits have shipped and will be heading to their new homes. If you have trouble with the assembly see here and the instructions for the big kit if you have further questions is here .... they share many of the same components but with far less parts. All the best! Mark-

Humble Indie Bundle V

Image
We at Frictional Games are yet again part of a Humble Indie Bundle and this time it is quite the pack. Our contribution is Amnesia: The Dark Descent and it is joined by Limbo , Bastion , Psychonauts and Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery . This pack of games is offered to a price of your own choosing, and part of the revenue, you chose how much, will go to charity. This video will explain more: I think the all of the games that Amnesia share the bundle with are quite special, and are all really worth playing if you haven't yet. Sword and Sworcery was my top from last year and there is a lot to learn from playing it. Foremost, it has this magical blend of music, gameplay and graphics that really shows of the strengths of the medium. It is clear that this is not a game that has been created to be some kind of competition, but to create a special, mystical experience. This is something we need more of. Limbo manages to create a very tense atmosphere, but more importantly it how to u

Forum post...

I noticed that I was getting sales in the UK without corresponding trials.  In the past, that's indicated a good positive review or comment somewhere. I did some searching, and found some forum posts here. Some quotes: Additional also, the Xbox live Indie game "Hidden in plain sight" is AMAZING. I want this to be played at Heggfest as much as all the fighting games. I played it with a few friends this evening and ended up spending four solid hours on it. Probably premature to say it, but it feels like it would become a local multiplayer staple on a par with Saturn Bomberman, Mario Kart, Smash Bros. and Deathtank. Someone else responded: Hidden in Plain Sight looks amazing. Just watched a video on youtube of the man who made it talking about it. Looks tremendous fun; I've always loved that concept of decieving other players like in The Ship and that other one witht he sniper party thing. Never played them though. They've always reminded me a bit

Simple Class Templates

Image
There are sometimes when I hate adding class levels to monsters just to gain a desired effect so I've been plugging away quietly as working up some simple template to take the place of adding class levels. It goes something like this: Champion Creature (CR +1) Creatures with the champion template are divine warriors who strike out at the machinations of opposing religions. Rebuild Rules: Aura gain a good, evil, lawful or chaotic aura appropriate to your selected god. AC +2 to natural armor; Special attack +1 to attack and damage rolls against opponents whose alignment is opposite your aura. This bonus increase to +2 at 5 HD, +3 at 10 HD, and +4 at 15 HD.; Skills +4 Knowledge (religion), +4 to Diplomacy or Intimidate; Ability Scores +4 Str, +2 Con, +4 Cha, Int minimum 6; Languages  Common So a owlbear champion would look something like this. Champion Owlbear by Carlos "Celurian" Torreblanca (whose name I can never seem to spell right) Champion Owlbear of Good CR 5 XP 1

May Projects

Image
Boy there have been a lot of things going on in May for Purple Duck Games. 1) Pinterest I've created a pinterest board to collect all the art I've commissioned for various projects. You can find the boards here sorted by the artist's name. Some of these pieces I have rights for to put on sale as stock art and some I do not. The ones that are available as stock art will eventually all have gumroad links attached to them for ease of shopping and you will eventually be able to find them at Rpgnow as well. I have no stock art rights for anything by Tamas Baranya, John Hazen, Jennifer Taylor or Kristian Richards. 2) Pathfinder We released several products to support the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game including Memorable Townsfolk and Purple Mountain II: Ruins of the Dwarven Delve  both by David Nicholas Ross, Monstrous Races: The Third Party by Sam Hing, and Fehr's Ethnology: Erkunae and Dhosari by Perry Fehr. 3) 4C System Recently Daniel Perez of Highmoon Games transferr

Taking a Moment

Image
Purple Duck Games is pleased to announce the return of Heroic Moments! Heroic Moments is the series of single scenes (or heroic moments) for four-color superheroic games. This series is designed to be dropped seamlessly into any existing superhero campaign. All Heroic Moments are set in “The City,” which has many of the same features of any typical comic book setting. Locations in The City are left somewhat vague to make adaptations easier. The first volume of the series was published by Highmoon Games and spanned six issues. Those issues are now available under the Purple Duck Games banner at your preferred PDF-vendor. The first issue of Volume 2 will be out later this week.
